Networks and DNS
MikroTik device programming and setup
Setting up and programming MikroTik devices with RouterOS scripts, connecting them to the subscriber system over RADIUS, and automating list and rule updates on them.
The problem it solves
Copying address lists and rules to each router by hand takes time and causes mistakes, and repeating the same setup on several devices is hard.
Benefits
- A consistent setup you can re-apply on several devices
- Fewer manual mistakes
- A router tied to the subscriber and monitoring systems
Features
- RouterOS scripts: address lists, static DNS, using a private DNS, forcing DNS to a gateway, and a self-updating script
- Scripts that remove what an earlier run added, so they can be run again safely (RouterOS 7, and version 6 on request)
- Connecting the router as a NAS to RADIUS for PPPoE, Hotspot and WPA-Enterprise services
- Router monitoring and an alert on outage through ISP Manager
- Direct sync over the REST API sending only differences, with a dry run (the Opex Network Gateway tool, under development)
Who benefits
- ISPs and MikroTik network operators
- Organisations that want to automate their routers’ configuration
